It's ten years old and still going, just keep using what's in there.

It's funny that these boutique oils have been around for 10-15-20 years and there's no hard proof that they offer any real world benefits over the standard brands.

I am not sure if the premium oils are that much better. I have been using Mobil 1 full synthetic for years and even my cars that ended up with lots of miles never burned a drop of oil. They might have done just as good with regular but I can buy 5 quart jugs at Wally for a little over 20 bucks a jug. I know it holds up better in hotter conditions. Tons of car people run Mobil One and really like it also.

Do you have to do this in every thread? Should we talk about gas again too.

Yes I think it should be a requirement for everyone to talk about this on every thread or be booted off the forum

No less valid than the OP asking opinions about Royal Purple and people responding (yet again) about Amsoil.

Why is one comment OK and not the other?

I use the cheapest name brand synthetic I can find, I personally would never pay the ridiculous price RP charges for their products except in select instances...

for instance I couldn't find any 75/140 weight gear oil for my differential in my area other than RP, so I went with that.

My two cents...pay more attention to the air and oil filter than to the oil(just make sure you have oil in there and you're good )

Ive made a thread similar to this years ago in another forum for my BMW. Ive used purple oil and i foudn it to be great. Its used in many race type cars. But, for the money, its good to use regular oil and stay on time with oil changes.

O ya, its a Jaguar.. Stay Synthetic.

Just as an 'equal time' footnote, the car was delivered with non-synthetic oil. There is no requirement or recommendation in the owners manual to use synthetic.

There is however a strong recommendation NOT to use any additives.

Mentioned this in the other thread but should have been here. According to the owners manual, synthetic is not reccomended in the 3.0. Wonder why? I do know it finds leaks faster than fossil.

I'm sort of old school. I remember the Harley dealer saying he felt it was better to use the conventional oil with more frequent changes. That way you balance out moneywise but are running cleaner oil.

I've been using royal purple for 3 years now in the car. What can I say about it other than it's purple.
