Default Disable Parking Sensor?

Bit of an emergency here!
I have a 2005 S-Type 3.0 automatic which I bought a month ago. The reversing buzzer has always made a constant tone when in reverse - only when moving though, I think. Recently it got louder, and sometimes sporadic.

I have read the existing threads on here, and have tried listening to the sensors while in reverse with the ignition on (position 2) and there's no sound coming from any of them. The sensors are not accessible from underneath (as I've seen on some YouTube videos) so I can't see how to get to them.

Here's the emergency part. Yesterday it started beeping sporadically whilst just driving forward on the open road ! In 2 days I am going to be driving for 6 hours and I REALLY don't want to be listening to that beep stuck on. My first thought was to pull the fuse, but apparently it shares a fuse with the telephone (I don't use it) voice control (don't use it) and the front electronic module (what exactly does that control?)

So my question is, can I disable the parking sensors? Even if it's only to get me through this road trip. I know how to park a car, and don't even need them.

You can, the module is in the spare tyre well, left side I think, just pull out the connector.

While you are in there check for water in the well.

Thanks so much Norri.
I only just discovered there is a button on the overhead console for "park distance control." Not sure if that means it cancels the beep completely, but I just reversed in and out of the driveway a few times and it seems to do the trick. Thank goodness!

I'd still check for water in there.

The button is for turning off the front sensors, not the rear ones.
If you have the switch your car would have been fitted with the front sensors and active cruse control.
If you turn them off the adaptive cruse control will not work.
On the steering wheel cruse control switch there should be a switch on the side that sets the distance to the vehicle in front.
There are three settings 'normal', 'closer' and 'Audi driver', sorry that should be 'very close'.

If the noise has stopped by turning the front sensors off using the switch in the overhead console then it is probably going to be a front sensor that is faulty not a rear one.

Now try to see if the reversing sensors still work as they should with the switch off, my guess is that they will.

I cannot speak for the iCarsoft i930, but the LR-II reader will detect which sensor is faulty - this I know from personal experience; now, that said, your problem could well be a mix of wiring harness, sensor or module issues.

The good news is that once the problem component is located, good used replacements are usually available on eBay...
