Default DIY Adding. an Alarm chime/beeper

I am accustomed to hearing a audible chime on alarm activation & deactivation and would like to put this on my 2000 S type. I have walked back to many times to the car to check it's locked, so I have to get this done.

Anyone figure out how to add an audible beeper/chime to a 2000 S type V6?.

I have a 12v piezo buzzer and a 1n4001 diode ready to install somewhere, however if I put it on the door actuators or rear boot lid actuator, although it will work, the buzzer will also go off when the car starts rolling , as the doors and boot lock.

The fuel filler cap is cable actuated , so no opportunity there to attach anything electrical.

Can anyone suggest where to place the piezo/diode that's active on alarm engagement , but not at Any time else ?

I'd rather not install it on the alarm fuse or anything there, to avoid complications with these programmable modules... Something down the line so to speak in the alarm activation
Any ideas is appreciated .

Regards
Peter

I'm wondering if it can be enabled (using WDS / IDS).

I don't have that software , best to go fiddle with factory setup . This is why I'd prefer to only alter it at the end node of the alarms system like the door actuators, rather than anything upstream of that.

Does the horn work?

On my ‘02, after pressing the lock button twice on the fob, the horn chirps to let me know the doors are locked and the alarm is armed. Can’t remember if the marker lights also flash. But if I’ve left the trunk or a door open, there’s no horn and the marker lights will flash to get my attention.

When unlocking, the lights flash but no horn.

I ask about the horn because if it was not working, the alarm system may still be sending the command to chirp but there’s no response. Could be the horn is dead, but if you hadn’t tried it recently, you wouldn’t be aware.

Yes the horn works.
When I click the fob , the indicator lights all flash
Locks door
Locks boot

If I put the piezo in the door or boot actuators , it will obviously also chine when the cats takes off at speeds and those same door locks / boot activate.

I'd wire it into the dual indicator flashers , but that would also activate the piezo chime when the dashboard emergency button is pushed which activates all the flashers ....so no go there either.

The X200 is supposed to have 'AUDIBLE CHIRP ON ARM/DISARM' that can be 'enabled/disabled'.

Look at the configurable features.

That's very interesting .....is WDS. a dealer only tool?
