Default Does anything change in the car when the little snowflake is illuminated?

So when he gets cold out I get a little snowflake to illuminate on the dash of my 2006 STR. Is it just telling me that there’s a potential for ICE and nothing else or does it make any changes to the way to Car drives?

When snowflake mode is active, your car is now actively looking for reasons to be offended by the opinions of others.

i have never noticed anything obvious. Maybe the wiper in park heater fires up. There is no button for that on my car but i know it has it. I notice the snowflake at 40f and below

On my F-Type the snowflake comes up when the external temperature gets down to 4 degrees C (39.2 F) and odds on it's the same in the S type.
It's purely a warning to be careful coz there might be black ice on the road and it changes nothing about how the car drives.

My STR shows an amber snowflake at 4°C & below. At 0°C it changes to red.
If the temp is 4 or below on startup, it may automatically turn on your heated screens/mirrors.

Maybe automatic gear changes are less likely / slower / something?

The snowflake is a symbol on the dash, which will never light up in Australia...
It's simply a replacement for a rubber-hammer to hit those on the head, which are otherwise utterly unaware of their surrounds, to let them know:
It is really cold and there could be ice on the road, hence drive accordingly or not at all...

PS:
It just came to me that we do need a flame-symbol on the dash instead in Australia to let the driver know: It's burning all around you!

Right,

I don't have a snowflake, BUT I do have an Overspeed Warning for Middle East Motoring. I don't think I'll be taking my S-Type from Alabama to Saudi this year. Hahahaha

OK, even I got that joke now (mind you that English is not my first language). But typing "snowflake slang" into google helps...
Why did someone come up with that slang term, and thereby insulting all the beautiful snowflakes out there in the wild?

No problem. We already figured as much, what with being Australian per your signature.

Very funny, Karl...
Actually before I immigrated to Australia from Germany I visited Australia many times as tourist, traveling all over the place with other tourists.
At one occasion I kind of took over the role of acting as interpreter between an Australian and an American tourist! They talked to each other, but got stuck time and again...

Also: There is a very old Australian movie (can't remember the name) about an American woman inheriting a bit of land in the Australian outback. On her way there she gets stuck at an outback train station, and when she asks stuff, she gets replies including words like: arvo, dunny, thunderbox, Sheila, she will be apples, ... and maybe 'onya! - and she gets some kind of nervous breakdown, crying out loud: Doesn't anyone speak English here?

I was under the impression that was a requirement for owning one of these cars?

So true, why else should we own any of them?
