The front LH window regulator plastic vertical runners have broken again.
First the factory grey plastic originals broke and twice now a pair of flea bay purchased white plastic vertical runners. Having done this job a few times around the car its now a piece of cake. This flea bay pair of white runners certainly looked sturdier than the grey factory originals so surprised the less used front LH side (RHD vehicle) is not going the distance. Must be the way the missus slams the door! Probably not but there has to be a good reason I've yet to discover.
Since the regulator is out I thought that after 5 years of putting up with a front LH (RHD vehicle) with deadlock, faulty door latch I would revisit the problem. I have been getting sick of running the risk of locking the keys in the car if the door accidentally shuts since once opened the other 3 doors bounce back to the lock position. Also a blast from the past in having to reaching over to unlock the front passenger door to let the passenger in. Which incidentally after doing this unlocks all the doors since its faulty.
Opening the drivers door with the key (clockwise) and not the remote unlocks all the working doors and they will not bounce back. For this to work I have to first insert the key, turn it anti clockwise and then to the normal clockwise/unlock position.
Whats the problem then? All I need to do is just buy a new front LH door (RHD vehicle with deadlocking) latch, part number XR853192.
Well I did just that 5 years ago when this problem first appeared, wacked the new part in and the same problem.. So been living with this ever since. I even tried a few used ones from the wreckers and still no good.
Any thoughts before I buy another new one? Am I missing something?
Battery is fine. And I accidentally bought a USA speck RH front door (less deadlocking) latch XR853044 before I realised it was the wrong part. Sitting in the box for 5 years if anyone is interested.
I have attached a photo of the various types of latches I have accumulated over the years for the curious. Opened up RHD vehicle with deadlocking left hand front door latch on left of photo. Right hand front door latch of same vehicle (x202 STR) on right of photo. With the 'deadlocking' feature only the one front (drivers) latch needs to have this internal feature'switch. Opened latch in the middle must be an earlier RHD vehicle front right hand without deadlocking as it doesn't seem to have all the internal switches. New unadulterated USA right hand front (less deadlocking) shown down the bottom of photo-XR853044.
