Hi...New member. 2004 S-Type.
The car door won't stay locked. It tries to lock, then goes back to the unlocked position. It won't lock with the key or if I try to lock from the inside.
The trunk doesn't lock either.
Very stressed...I have to use this car for the next few weeks and I have my dog with me!!! I don't want anyone taking my dog... PLEASE HELP!
I tried pushing the lock and unlock buttons on the key for 4 sec...didn't help.
Thanks,
Mike

Moved you to the S Type section.
The guys will help.
Now, let's be having a little intro over in the New members area. We like to get to know people.

Have you tried locking the trunk with the key?
Is this all four doors that are playing up?

Welcome!
Commonly it's one of the locks that's acting up (one of the microswitches etc) but how to diagnose them I'm sorry I don't know. I think sometimes you can get one of the inside door flippers to lock the car (driver, passenger, ...) and that's a clue but I'm hazy as to why! Don't give up, someone else probably knows. Oh, and have a go with Search because usually someone's already had whatever problem.
