Driver's side Sending unit (3.0L)
So, I've been having a fuel issue, and I've come to the current conclusion that there's a plug in my fuel sending line. The fuel pump primes, and I can pass air through all the lines except the lines on the sending unit on the drivers side (Picture below).
Obviously the blacken strainer at the bottom is no bueno, so that's on the replacement list. But I can't find out what a couple other things are.
My assumptions on things are as follows:
A/1: Fuel feed line from fuel pump on pass side (Red)
B/2: Fuel return line (White)
C/3: Fuel feed line to engine (Red)
4: Fuel pre-filter
5: Some sort of check valve
Is it possible that either/or 4 and 5 are blocked/restricted to prevent fuel from flowing? What specifically is #5 so I can find it's part #? Am I able to safely detach #4 and replace it with a new pre-filter?

My apologies, I didn't know the S-Type 3.0 fuel sending units varied so much between years.
It's a 2001 Jaguar S-Type, with the 3 liter, normally aspirated, V6 Engine. It has an automatic transmission with the steering wheel on the left hand side of the vehicle.
I don't know how much more specific I need to be on this "mystery vehicle."
I've come to the conclusion that since there have been over 200 views, and no replies, that no-one has undertaken this procedure on a sending unit. I refuse to outright spend $500+ on a whole new sending unit, and therefore I shall attempt this feat on my own.

The part(s) you are enquiring about is listed as a fuel hose (XR817553) available for 52$US.
The sending unit is VIN-specific, so they do change from year to year. The fuel pump assembly (XR822164), which includes the fuel hose, carries a price of 508$US, as you state. The other items referenced in your photo do not appear to be available as separate service parts according to JEPC.
