Drl / fogs 06 str
ok, ive used the search to no avail.....question... i have no fog lights but i do have the button for them and when pushed the indicator lights in the dash....so is the wiring there from the factory for them? i would like to install daytime running lights and use this switch with indicator..
Rear fog lights are for cars behind you to better see you on foggy, rainy, snowy days. Basically looks like your brakes are on! If you have both front and rear fog lights you will have 2 switches. If you only have one like I do it's for rear fogs....

I'm Pretty Sure Your Rear Fogs Are At The Bottom Inside Corners Of The Tail Lights. The 05+ Tail Lights Differ From The 03-04(Which Is What I Have), So I Could Be Wrong. Just Turn Your Lights On And Hit The Switch Then Hop Out And See What Is Lit Up.
Those are "city lights" not drl's. Common in Europe. Basically in a well lit urban environment Europeans have small bulbs that light up because a regular low beam headlight isn't needed.
DRL's are a Canadian thing. All cars in Canada are required to have them. Apparently they feel it increases visibility. On halogen systems it's usually the low beam at 40% power.
Picture it as a fourth lighting scale. Parking lights - city lights - low beams - high beams.
Actually depending on where you are in Europe, they are mandatory. I.e. you can get a ticket for having your regular low beams on, when they aren't needed. And in MOST of Europe you can get a ticket for having fog lights on when conditions don't warrant them.
So that's what Jag did, when they decided to get rid of the fog / driving lights in the front fascia. If you are looking for the harness (I cant remember if you were) That's where the fog light "switch" is wired to. Those little bulbs.
Take care,
George
