You want the codes. Modules are very expensive and only rarely fail so leave it alone.

 

+1 on obtaining a scanner capable of reading the abs module through the OBD II port... then post the code(s) here and I'm sure someone can assist. Or go to the dealer and let them read the codes for you...

I have emailed the service manger and asked if they have the codes, and if not I have volunteered to bring my vehicle in to re-query for the faults or codes....Let's see what he says to that request.

In the interim, I will begin my search for an OBD II scanner.

Thanks JagV8. My thoughts, exactly--I just don't understand how they screwedup the module so that the ABS/DSC light is now constantly lit and I now amunable to set the cruise control?! Cruise control can be turned on and off, butwill not set to any given speed limit and maintain....what a drag for this upcoming1,400 mi trip...

It's not likely to be the module. It really isn't.

The codes normally show what is suspect.

 

It may not be Reluctor rings or sensors !! It may be a break in a sensor wiring loom . The front sensor looms are under strain most times with the wheels turning left & right & fatigue setting in . Mine was the front near side loom . once replaced ABS light stayed off. (my fault was diagnosed by a local garage that had a modern multi make diagnostic system ) £130 .00 Diagnose, supply & fit loom, test, delete fault light ) Not sure what the $$ conversion rate is at the moment ...Oh I am X type !!

Despite the fact you have an x-type, at least it has me thinking...I will most likely make the trip to Pennsylvania and then seek the "expertise" of the Jaguar dealership, there. But, I really need to get one of those OBD II devices--I didn't know how simple it could be to diagnose my car!!!! Just like a patient if you will...awesome!

So I received an email from the Jaugar service manager and he reported that the fault code on my vehicle was:

C1287

Any thoughts? Is this a code I can fix myself? What I think needs to be done is that the module needs to be programed after whatever "hard reset" they state they did....

Grab JTIS - free download - which has the correct codes details for your car. Plus details of just what that one means and known causes etc.

 

Eric, +1 to Jagv8 - download JTIS and research - here is what I understand on this:

C1287 Booster Pedal Force Switch Circuit Failure

Check the connection to the solenoid switch on the brake pedal. Check the fuse and wiring. (JTIS will have much more detailed pin point tests to perform)

Possibly this part is toast as well requiring a replacement - the above would be MUCH cheaper that a replacement ABS/DSC module.

 

Well, guys, when it rains, it appears to pour for me.
Now the dashboard alarm light is glowing red, dimly lit, and on, constantly (i.e., not the bright red beacon-like flashes that it emits when the alarm is set). What could that mean, now?
Could this dimly lit red light drain my battery?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....the cat is falling apart right before my very eyes--yikes!?

Just wanted to take a brief moment to thank you all, collectively, for having tried to help me resolve the ABS/DSC light issue. --THANK YOU!
I also wanted to update you on the status of the vehicle. It performed well on the ride up to PA. However, being RWD, it didn't perform so well in the snowy/icy conditions (without ABS/DSC, it was pretty bad). Nevertheless, I made an appointment to have it serviced on 11 Jan 14. Decided to fill the vehicle up before the impending snow storm and stopped at Sam's Club to refuel. Started the care--such a racket. Turned it off and had it towed. Found out, yesterday, that it had blown a piston rod through the oil pan?! Wow, breaks my heart. I took great care of it only to see it end this way...
Not sure what to do with it, now, so I have posted on Craigslist to see if anyone want to buy it for parts. Sadly, everything works in top condition, the care looks virtually brand new, only needs an engine...ah, well, I guess a wakeup call on the finality of mortality, eh.
