Default DSC not operating

Hi folks,

I have a Jaguar 3.0 litre 2003 petrol. Today when I was driving, two lights came on the instrument panel. One light was the DSC and also the light immediately to the right of it. A message came up on the panel which said - 'DSC not operating'
- sadly I not in the least technical and this time of thing causes me some concern.
Can anybody advise? - thanks.

Welcome to the forum Alister,

I've copied this question from your Intro thread for advice from members with the same model.

Could be a wheel sensor or any of a number of causes. There should be codes to say what is wrong - readable with a dealer-type tool.

On my 2002 2.5 V6 the DSC not working light and message came on before the abs fault showed on the dash shortly after. The code scanner showed it was the front right hand abs wheel sensor not working. The cable had broken due to incorrect fitting. It failed soon after I bought the car.
Fairly easy job to replace the sensor and cable with a used item off ebay.
As I fitted the replacement wheel sensor I couldn't work out for the life of me how anyone could incorrectly fit one.
As soon as the abs sensor was in, I started the engine and within a few seconds the system reset itself and the messages disappeared. So no need to use the code reader to turn the warnings off.

Although there might be other reasons on your car.

Make sure your battery is fully charged before trouble shooting the DSC message, as this is one of several codes/messages I've gotten when my battery was failing. You want to rule out the battery before proceeding further.
