Default Early S type dash storage box upgrade

I have an early dash on my Stype, and although there is a modern digital touch screen radio installed in the older radio position , on the left we still have the plain storage dash box .
Has anyone installed a digital tachometer/
speedometer or something similar in this storage box position, ?anything to make the dash a bit more interesting . I'd be interested in exactly what can work here from people's experiences.
best regards
Peter

Jaguar offered a TELEPHONE PRESENTER in that same location as an option if the phone was installed.

Mine has the original Jaguar satnav in that spot. It’s not much use because the last map update was 20 yrs ago😄

I have the first gen dash as well. So what radio have you installed? Is it a generic unit or something specifically made? I am deciding whether to mod the original for aux or install a new one.

This is my 02 v8. The drawer gets used for the 3.5mm audio cord.. My 01 v6 is somewhat similar minus the pionner stereo. The 03 v6 is factory with a Bluetooth fm transmitter in the cigarette lighter.

Is it worth replacing the original radio? I am between that and just placing a aux input (then use phone or any other device) and for navigation just phone holder.

Id say its not worth upgrading the deck. I use waze on my phone for navigation and very rarely use the cd player since all my music streams from Spotify or Amazon music. Here is how my 01 v6 looks with factory radio and 3.5 mm cord.

This is where I got my audio 3.5 aux adapter from. You will need to buy a separate rca to 3.5mm audio cord which is longer and preferably sleeker.

That looks ok, but it means you will no longer be able to use the CD-changer. Is there another way to hardwire bluetooth in?

I'm not a fan of Bluetooth audio even though I run it in the 03. Its susceptible to interference and isn't as crisp. Spotify and amazon music have caught up to cd quality imo via 3.5mm but it does cost a monthly fee. YouTube is an alternative I guess but for me ads interrupting my music is unacceptable. Exactly why I can't stand listening to the radio, too much talk not enough music. This is what I use in the 03

I agree, but my iPhone doesn’t have a 3.5mm jack.
I use a similar device in my early S-type. It works but sometimes gets more interference than bluetooth and it is ugly.

Thank you.

I'll also add the aux input then. Are you aware if a direct connection on the unit can be done to add the aux? Such as this, which is for X-Type with Alpine unit I think: https://www.jaguarforum.com/threads/...&sortby=oldest
