Default ECU Tuning Group | Jaguar S Type R 4.2L Supercharged

By reprogramming the ECU, not only were we able to increase power for the Jaguar 4.2 Supercharged engines, we were also able to remove the speed limiter, hesitation/flat spots, and raise the RPM all while improving fuel economy by 10-15%.

Total gains achieved by reprogramming only the ECU on the XJR/XKR/XF/S-Type R 4.2L Supercharged Jaguars is 25hp & 24lbs tq. By complementing the ECU tune with a pulley, gains are 55hp & 65+lbs tq.

For owners who are not accessible to any of our dealers, you are in luck. We are offering a new package where you will be able to reprogram your vehicle through the OBD II port in the comfort of your own home. The process is simple, safe, and easy. Contact us directly for more information.

Please inquire about any Jaguar model.

Contact the sales department for any questions or concerns.

Please obey all traffic laws. ECU Tuning Group does no encourage speeding.

So you are able to tune the twin chip denso ecu. Do you have before and after dynos from a s type R? Can you provide custom tunes for modifications, nitrous, high octane fuel ect...

What does does someone have to buy to do that and how much is it?

What tuning options are there? E.g. can I edit maps?

ETG, why hasn't a live pereson addressed this forum or begun your thread? As a slight expantion to our brother qwikcat's question regarding proof with dyno charts; several of us have been approached by tuning firms with a very similar message and offer but nodda on official dynoe charts. What's ETG's charge for such a service? Is there a major group buy discount? Otherwise, thanks for offering your services. Let's see what happens.

From their website the cost for a 4.2 SC with pulley is $1,395. Now a group discount would be sweet. No Dyno sheets b/4 or after are shown for the Jag

Qwikcat, did any of the other cars have any mods? I was told they couldn't work with my mods and I barely have anything done. Oh well...

$1390 for the ECU tune? Outfits out there charge $995 for the same tune (likely). Probably not worth to tune the ECU. Avos swears his untouched ECU suffices, as it supports 600 hp.

Mmmh sounds all very fishy indeed.
The 5.0SC prices also seem prety high, I have been playing with my tuner just 1 afternoon, and we already had found how the ECU is restricting power. This is not the case for stock 4.2 cars though, sorry.

Would a tune benefit the 4.2 sc at all?

In general, I think you can get 20 to 25 hp out of it via a tune on the 4.2 SC cars, but you need to decide for yuorself if it is worth it.

I just wanted to to say the the increase you can get on the 5.0SC cars is first via lifting the power limiter (which you will not have for the 4.2 cars), and then you can add some a little more via tuning the maps.

What will a tune look this do for emissions and fuel economy?

Maybe slightly better fuel economy, very hard to measure correctly. Emissions depends on what you worry about, so if you would be concerned about the environment this might not be the best car in the first place, but when it is to pass emission tests you will be fine (but I can’t speak for tunes from tuners O don’t know).

Most people wanting a "tune" are after more power and are commonly doing WOT runs. Emissions increase at WOT (the PCM tries to stay rich as lean must be avoided). So any WOT is poorer emissions and if more power then likely more emissions.

That's treating "emissions" as "pollutants other than CO2". More power pretty much has to mean more fuel and thus more CO2. (Over here you might be forgiven for thinking CO2 is the only pollutant. I'd despair except governments don't do science.)

At WOT the car does not do most of its emissions tests (it may not do any).

I don't know if the SAI-equipped cars try to compensate for the expected richness. Probably not but I'm guessing.

SAI = secondary air injection i.e. added to the exhaust

it sounds like they're just selling a mail order tune. I don't want to blast a forum sponsor, but for the money, they need to show us that it's worth it since we're all pretty sceptical. Several people have made promises but we haven't seen anything. I've even offered my car up for several guys to take a look at it over the years.

For a few hundred dollars, we can get most of that hp with a intake tube, k&n and mufflers. In addition, my definition of "tuning" means getting the car on the dyno and making changes based on what you see rather than using a "canned" tune. The only people that I see interested in this type of thing are the guys that have already done the previously mentioned mods and are looking for more. Finally $1400 for 25hp on a 10k car doesn't seem like it's worth it to me, but that's just me. But then again when i want to go fast, I don't drive the jag....

Sorry if I'm jumping to conclusions prior to letting the OP respond to all of these things....
