Default Electric Trunk lock issue.... Strange one

Guys I have been looking at this issue for a while now and I can't seem to figure it out.. Power Trunk will NOT open with the interior button or the button on the trunk itself. BUT it works with the remote fob... I have checked the fuses in the trunk all of them are fine. What else should I be looking at? Please advise as I am lost. Thank you.

Damaged wiring or corroded connectors come to mind...

Check the valet button in the glove box. Details here:

I think the valet button would disable the remote fob, so is not really a suspect? But what it can be I can't figure, sorry to say. I'd suspect wiring, probably where it flexes, but I'd have guessed the fob would then also not work.

hmm, valet button has to be worth a look.

FWIW, I just tested the valet switch on my ‘02. When pressed, it only inhibited the external button and the dash switch. The fob would always unlock the trunk, regardless of the position of the valet switch.

I guess the logic is you’d only hand over a bare valet key, with no fob attached.

Could be.

My (UK) car doesn't have a valet switch but it turned out to have the wiring and need it as I accidentally left it partly disconnected (when fixing the RCCM). So, wiring as well as switch would be a suspect.
