Engine control module nightmare update
Hello everyone
as some of you know I have been trying to sort out a no communication with engine control module on the 2003 str
After it came back from auto Electricians
After there appreciate tried to reconfigure ecm
The update
Brought a replacement ecm all numbers Identical
had it Professionally cloned
When I received it and plugged it in things got worse
Even though I thought they could not
Before I only had ecm no communication
Now I have 4 modules no communication
general body control module
Rear body control module
Electronic steering lock
Electronic park brake
Abs module says to reconfigure
I also had pats code 15 which i managed to get rid of
I did have key in circuit fault but since I replaced ignition switch that has gone
Tested
Engine control module connector plug pin
Pin 4 & 5 power ground fine
Pin 6 Engine crank B+ 12 .8 volts
pin 7 ignition B+ 12 .8 volts
Pin 22 battery supply 12.9 volts
Pin 23 & 24 switched battery + ems 12.8 volts
pin 52 throttle body drive relay 12.8 volts
Pin 54 ground good all grounds are good
pin 134 linked to Engine compartment relay #4 no power
Same as fuse 18 Engine compartment
But if jump pin1/30 & pin 5/87
Pin 134 & fuse 18 both have power
passengers compartment fuse box fuse f1 Engine control module/crankshaft sensor no power
not sure if that gets power by the ecm
Next 42 way connector plug
Pin 38 no power normal until you jump relay #4 then 12.8 volts
Pin 39 ignition on 12.8 volts
When you jump relay #4 throttle body clicks
Canbus 60 ohms tested wave pattern with new oscilloscope that's good as well
not sure if I'm going down the right path now
But beginning to think my replacement engine control module was cloned is it possible my original ecm vid block was Corrupted
And that was transferred to replacement ecm
I have also tried 3 different elm327
Yet none connect to vehicle so don't know what kind to get
Thanking you
Darrol

> But beginning to think my replacement engine control module was cloned is it possible my original ecm vid block was Corrupted
That would make sense to me.
You initial problem was (if I remember correctly) that the apprentice of the car-electricians-shop connected a service-computer to the Jag, and the computer ran out of power in midst of data transfers, which left the software of the ECM in your car all messed up.
However, sadly, I do not know, how to solve this issue...
I am guessing here: Isn't it possible to order a brand new ECM from Jaguar, which is specific for you VIN-number? Are you going back to the UK. Can you get it there?
That would make sense to me.

I had already looked into that I can not order one directly from jaguar in the UK
It has to be done though a Authorized jaguar dealer in New Zealand for Security reasons
they have quoted me $3900 plus tax
But wondering if there is another way around it like instead of cloning programming from vin number
or sending ecm Instrument cluster General body control module to be programed together
cheers

In 2005 Jaguar issued a procedure to recover the ECM if communication was lost.
We got TECH TIPS every month for a few years.
Written in BOLD.
DO NOT REPLACE THE ECM.
