Hi All,

My name is Gustavo Cruz and im from Mozambique/Maputo (Africa).
Im new at the Forum and also having a Jag S-Type 4.0cc V8 engine. I have done a trip (1080Km) and on my way back the Orange Engine Light start to flash especialy on my 5th gear. on 4th and 6th gear nothing happens. In fact when he change to 6th gear the light stops caming up!

Other strange thing is on idle the car seems to struggle beside if i do acelarete slowly from 4th gear to 5th gear, the vehicle shakes line is on wrong gear!

Can this be a misfired? Fuel Filter Dirty? Bad spark plugs? Clogged air filter?
Vehicle only got 34.000Km and i have imported from Japan less that 2 months ago.

Any help?

ok, get codes read, sounds like misfires, the flashing engine light is saying they are so bad its destroying the cats.

and maybe next time wait more than an hour before reposting

Yes we need the codes to help any at all.

Your car has a 5 speed automatic, not a 6 speed. The 6 speed came out with the new 4.2L V-8 engine and on the entire Jaguar line starting in 2003.

But don't delay because as police666 said that flashing light means damage is being done. It is very easy to destroy one or more of your catalytic converters and it's just not necessary if you get things fixed.

DO NOT drive around with the light flashing!

Vehicle is at the garage. I will take the scan this weekend and see the codes.
But for the sintomns looks like a misfiring!
