Default Fake 'R' spotted in NYC. Anyone here?

Saw either a 4.0 or 4.2 S type, black with beige or off white interior, with R badges on the Grand Central Parkway Eastbound at about 10:30 this morning. Had the newer R badge on the back, and inexplicably the older 'R' Style badges above the side markers.

Anyone here? And why?????

I've seen plenty of fake M3's out there, never a fake R. Never understood why someone would want to do that.

How'd you make out with your HID's bud? Never heard back from you. Did you figure out the correct bulb?

Take care,

George

I saw a tan or champagne colored imposter R last summer at a car show. No mesh grille was the first giveaway, no "R" stamped in the seats.

Still a really nice looking car with a nice aftermarket exhaust, but the "R" badging was unnecessary.

Well, my S-type is a diesel, but it's the only car I know where it doesn't say so on the back. It's such a good diesel, I'd brag about it if it were me. Best diesel I've ever driven, and I've driven a few...

Just don't type in "Type R" in your search or you'll end up with floor mats like that guy in South Jersey.....

Thats funny!!! I changed my "R" badges to the new ones like the XKR brings, Not to hijack this thread (no intension) But even when I had my older "R" badges, people assumed I had a fake "R" type not knowing that my R comes with the "luxury package" with adaptive cruise control, chrome trimmings (being a regular R has matching color blades front and rear and color match grill which mines doesn't) and my seats do not have the "R" stamped on the leather and comes with a retractable blind and comes with piping on the leather, But its an R guys LOL, thats what matters

That is funny.... Yea, I remember on here having a talk about how your car looks like a regular luxury S because of the trim...

I'd actually pull the R badges off... Then pause to look at the shock on the face of the unsuspecting racer boy when you hit it and the supercharger kicks in..

Oddly enough, my R does not have a color matching grille - it is unpainted and appears to be stainless steel. The car is metallic black and the rest of the car is all body color matched, no chrome or stainless. I guess the R comes in many flavors over the years.

If they can see the trim they should be able to see the fat tires - dead give-away.
