Default fault codes

a few weeks ago i could not turn off the heating, even put it on "low" the heating was still "on" after consulting the forum i could be the 3 way valve, and on the other hand the cooling fluid was 97°C so changed the valve and thermostatresult: no more heater "on" and cooling temp. 84-87°C what is normal, BUT! another point of worry engine managment and transmission failure, i could reset the faults via the OBD connection but the transmision failure came on again and again, while driving the car and reset the codes it was sometimes ok for 1mile and sometimes , on the motorway for 15miles at that moment the 5th and 6th could not engage all the time from 6th he shifted down to 4th, ..:.suddenly "low cooling water level" alarm (red) after a visual check the level was ok.
another week of worry...
somewhere i read "disconnect the negative earth at the battery", so i did, turned on the engine and everything was fine so far no failure codes...
so hopely this can help other people
all the best and enjoy motoring with the jags

Vehicle details would be very helpful.

What is the vehicle's MY and which engine is fitted? How many kilometres are on the vehicle?

One of the first things to check is the battery voltage. With the ignition in the OFF position, what is the battery voltage across the terminals when measured with a voltmeter?

If it's less than 12.6 volts, charge the battery for five or more hours at 2 to 5 amps and retest. If the voltage is still less than 12.6 volts, the battery must be replaced. Many issues and electrical 'gremlins' chased on these forums are the result of a failing or weak battery.

Here we go again, the fault code came again, but this occurs once around 70Km/h (44Miles/h) i can erase the fault but always comes back driven on the motorway, after removing the fault code and driving over 120Km/h no gearbox fault indication, once the speed drops the fault code apears again on the display.
This morning i took the jag. instead the rover and??? one more code "low engine power" in this case fault code on the OBD reader: P0332 knock sensor 2 circuit low bank2
Somewhere i saw an article who sayed to replace the the right rear ABS sensor.
I remember a few years ago on my rover 75 the speed dial, and reservoir level indication wasn't also not working, reason? the front left wheel ABS sensor was the wire broken,
replaced it, and everything was normal, just to say what a ABS sensor have to do with the fuel level dial
conclusion when i find the time i will check that item
PS battery is only a few months old, as this also is a crucial item if voltage is too low, same on my 88' xj40 if the voltage low, the engine crancks but will not start!
keep you informed if more news about

Troubleshoot the P0332 - working sensor is vital.

You need to read the ABS codes to know if all is OK or not.

There is no static test for the ABS sensors.
You need to read the codes to see what is wrong and what sensor you need to replace.

Use the jaguar workshop manual to work through the pin point tests for the P0332 fault code. (Left hand when sitting in the car, knock sensor.)
But to save you some time the knock sensor should have the resistance of between 180 - 220 Kohms. If it has not then replace it.

Here is a link to the workshop manual:

On ABS sensors, you can use a meter and check ohms plus what voltage you get when you spin the wheel - but these are CRUDE tests mainly able to show a failed sensor. They will not detect all bad sensors.

Much better to read the codes!
