Hi Darrol,
bad news: Expect the suspension parts for 2004 vs. 2000 model to be all different. Maybe there are exceptions, but generally they would be all different. I have two X204 myself, There is a world of differences between an X200 and the X204 two facelifts later (one in 2002 and one in 2004), and at one of those facelifts they tackled the suspension.

I recommend to use this site as a helpful guide:
https://www.britishparts.co.uk/class...ing-suspension

They changed the design of their web page recently - it is horrible now, but with a lot of time you can still look for a certain part and check out for which S-Type it can be used.

The suspension has a lot of differences. Once I saw a youtube video and noticed that someone there mounted the frt. ball joints so that they faced downwards - I threw my hands over my head and thought: Oh no, he managed to mount the ball joints upside down... - but then I realized that the X200 frt. ball joints face down, the X204 ball joints face upwards.

I still have not found the time to write a DIY guide regarding S-Type X204 suspension, but just some guidance in short - I hope I come across:
Ridiculously the ball joints for the rear upper wishbone arms cannot be removed and cannot be bought for that reason. But I very carefully pressed with my hydraulic press onto the upper "half"-sphere to reset the joint back to less "play" and I bought a whole bunch of rubber grommets on Aliexpress, and after applying bearing grease and new grommets the arms were good as new for basically no money... Similarly I could "rejuvenate" a lot of expensive parts just by adding grease and new grommets.

Also, it is extremely unlikely that you would find suspension parts at the wreckers, which are less rotten then yours, as the damage is mainly due to aged rubber. And their rubber would not be any younger...
