It was a nice day here in Austin TX, I felt great -windows down roof open-nice music driving around town taking care of errands.
So now that the honeymoon is over I have to fix some issues and hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.
First off the passenger door mirror is missing the cover the base is broken and looks like crap. My question is will any other model-door mirror assemble fit on the STR?
Second I got the car with the emergency brake calipers missing. Do I have to get the Brembo e brake calipers or is there an alternative?

The door mirror assembly is unique to the S-Type, the XJ and X-Type ones are different.

You need to be careful what you buy as a replacement, since the assemblies are differnt if you have memory seats, or the mirrors are power-fold, or both.

The mirror caps are the same as the X350 XJ and X-Type.

The park brake calipers are probably not interchangeable with other models, well the Brembo's are the same on the X350 XJR/SuperV8 up to 2003-2005, but I doubt the separate calipers from later models will fit. Have a look on ebay.

 

Start by finding what features your car has - email jag direct and ask for full build specs (or a dealer can print it but might charge).

 

Weird that someone took the calipers off.

 

the kind of butcher jobs you come across on second hand STR's never ceases to amaze...

based on what I read on these forums, it appears mechanics are totally dumbfounded when approaching EPB faults and problems...
