Default fluid fill

Ok I belive my tranny fluid is low or empty from the smell I am getting. Does anyone have a pic of the drain plug and fill plug on a 2003 s-type. I need to do this tranny fluid change this weekend. HELP.

Nice try but the 2003 is likely the ZF 6HP26 (it definitely is if VIN after M45254). There's a FAQ about its tranny & fluid

If you have the 3.0 V6 engine, probability is high that you are smelling your motor oil seeping through your two Intake Manifold Tuner Valve O-rings, dripping onto the heat shield below them, and then burning off with the associated smell drifting into your cabin. A very common problem with the 3-litre engines that are still running their lousy factory IMT O-rings. Search this forum using "IMT O-Ring Replacement" as your key phrase and you'll find all the information you need to learn about the problem as well as excellent instructions and photos explaining how to remedy it for about $5 and less than two hours of your time if you do it yourself. Many of us have performed this procedure on our S-Types during the past year-and-a-half or so. New IMT O-rings solve the oil seepage issue, the cabin smell, and some potential misfire issues as well. If you have the 3-litre engine, just go ahead and do the O-ring replacement and save yourself some headaches and greater expense down the road....

Well I didnt have this smell until I got a overheating transmission error a few weeks ago up in the mountains. So that is why I think it is the trany.

There's always a chance that it could indeed be the transmission. But if you're not having transmission problems now, no warning lights on, no codes thrown, it is probably your leaking IMT O-rings as I have stated. I'd start by replacing them. Should cost you about $5 total at your Jaguar parts department. If your car still has the original factory IMT O-rings (they are yellow in color but you won't know that until you remove them), they WILL leak (they probably already are leaking) and you'll need to replace them with the new-and-improved green-colored O-rings. The sooner the better....

New 3.0 V6 owners come on this forum from time to time complaining about the burning oil smell. We advise them to change their IMT O-rings. When they do, they always report back that their problem has been solved....

Using a clean white paper napkin, wipe the bottom of the black plastic casing of your lower IMT Valve where it bolts into the metal manifold. Then look at the napkin. If you see any oil residue, then bingo, there's your problem....

ok I will go there this week and get those o-rings. They look alot easier to replace then dealing with the tranny. If the tranny was really low on fluid woudlnt it slip really bad besides the burning smell?
