Exclamation front pass door wont open

I have a 2002 S-Type 3.0 Sport. My wife lifted the outside front passenger door handle while I was unlocking the door from the drivers side (inside). Now the door wont open from the outside or inside. When I try to unlock or lock the car after 1 second the locks go back to the unlocked position. When I disconnect the plug to the pass side door actuator, the rest of the door locks lock and unlock properly. I checked the #7 fuse inside the car. Its good. I was able to take the passenger door panel off, with minor damage. I believe that the problem is that the cable that goes into the actuator won't go all the way in. It seems off by 1/6". My question is, is there a manual override so that I can open the door to change the actuator? If not how do I change the actuator with the door closed? Is there some way to disable the automatic locking mechanism? Ive read every post I could find on the subject including the thread about turning the key to the on position and locking 3 times. It didn't release the pass door lock. Or the thread about changing the actuator, he had his door open. I'm at my wits end now. I have to fix this or I'm going to have to get another car. I have 3 teenage children and its impossible to fit them along with my wife in the back seat. Any help would really be appreciated . By the way, I don't have a remote for the car

It sounds broken so I'd remove the lock, if need be by brute force. That or a shop with a trustworthy mechanic.

I really don't think having to replace a broken lock warrants changing a car but it's your choice!!

Thanks for the tip. I was a little frustrated. I love my jag. I bought a actuator today and I will use a hammer and chisel on the lock tomorrow. I will post my results.

My old physics teacher called it the Law of Maximum Frustration (for Minimum Exerted Effort).

aka Sod's Law (and other names)
