Default Front side marker light

My passenger front side marker light blew, The one up by the molding not the fender marker lights. Anyways I loosened up the inner fender plastic and can't seem to get into the light.

Is there a trick to get this light out to replace the bulb?

I replaced the fender markers with clear ones and they were easy to get to, but this beast is a different story.

Maybe my hands are too big!

Help appreciated.

It looks to me as if you have to go through the belly pan rather than the inner wheel well. What a bummer.

But the tabs are behind the fender, so the front pan will at the least be partially removed.

I would do it, but we have dinner plans this evening. If you don't get it out tonight, I might be able to take a few pics later.

I went out and tried to remove the torx bolt on the belly pan under the light, All I did was strip them out I guess I'll nee to drill them out and replace them. All this for a side marker light, could Jaguar had made atleast one thing easy on these cars?

Yes the fronts are the same as the rear. There are two fixed tabs on the top and two flexable ones on the bottom. You compress the bottom ones upward which releases the bottom of the lamp. Then it hinges outward and down freeing the two top tabs. Possibly a very thin instrument could be inserted from the bottom to release the tabs. But I would be afraid of breaking the tabs with any force. Although my right one popped out in the wreck with no damage.

I had the exact same problem undoing the frt splash pan bolts. The captive nut wants to spin and ends up ripping up the tab on the bumper cover. Half came out OK, a couple tore up the cover and one I ground the head of the bolt off. You have to be careful doing the later cause the bolt ends up getting red hot and melting the plastic cover. I'm sure they work fine until the first bath in road salt.

This ain't just a Jag thing. On Laurie's Grand Prix, I had to basically remove the frt bumper cover to change the W/S washer pump. I had a Ford Escape that I had a heck of a time, with a lot of cheating and swearing to change a fog lamp. I even looked in the owners manual. It had instructions on how to change every bulb but when it came to the fog lamps it said to take it to your Ford dealer.

I deal with this crap every day. Any wonder I drink?
