Default Fuel Computer Data Error

2001 S-Type 4.0 149,000 miles. I too am getting the Fuel Computer Data Error, in the last week I've died 8+ times, three times on the freeway. It's totally random and very troubling. I'll be driving along and suddenly the engine just dies. Fuel comp data error flashes up and when I try to restart the alarm light flashes and it won't start. I leave it for a couple of minutes sometimes it restarts sometimes not and then I have to try repeatedly before it starts again. I've read several posts about battery replacement but it doesn't seem to make a difference, any thoughts ... I just dropped $1600 on front brakes and rotors, bushings wishbone etc ... I can't afford a new computer.

Someone mentioned the throttle body may be the issue also I've seen diodes mentioned.

I'm guessing it's electrical. Does anyone have the final word on this problem?

Thanks in advance.

If the work was done and then this problem occurred they're probably related, even if it's not obvious how. Is the battery new?

I don't see any way it could be the TB so best leave it alone. Someone ruined theirs by cleaning it.

The problem existed before the work unfortunately.

Fair chance it's a chafed wire, bad connection, poor power, poor ground etc. May be tough to find

Well my interior lights are stuck on now permanently ... I figure it must be in the trunk somewhere, fuel pump and lights are both in the trunk fuse box PDC. Darn it.

No sign of water or corrosion that I can see. Very frustrating ... I have a mechanically sound good ride that is plagued by electrical shenanigans. Has anyone replaced the rear PDC with sucessful results?
