Default Fuel pump quick connect stuck...help!

UPDATE:
I finally got the stubborn hose to release and was able to complete the job! I was concerned all the twisting on that hose may have created a leak......but nothing so far! My Cat is back on the road!!
.................................................. ..................................
My fuel pump on my 2002 S-Type has been faltering and has finally failed. I’ve researched replacing it myself (moderately competent) and started in. First quick connect popped out just like it’s supposed to, but the second is stuck! I’ve tried all kinds of needle nose pliers, channel locks not to mention fingers! What I thought would be less than a 3 hour job has turned into a week and a half now and all I’m doing is damaging the “white” intake fuel connect. Anyone have any ideas please help.

Are you using a fuel line disconnect tool? These are pretty tough with pliers.

Edit..Just looked at the manual and noticed you don't need the special tool like you require on the filter.

Dave- I wish I were more help. I haven't done a pump.

Catfan-thanx for the input! Yeah the red connect came out smooth as silk with fingers! I found a similar problem online with someone’s Volvo and they wound up using the nail pull end of a hammer! I’m very concerned that may damage it!

Push the line in, while pressing the tabs then pull the line up. That usually works.

If not spray a bit of wd40 and try my suggestion again. The white push disconnect is a bear. Dont use pliers, etc unless your new pump has it and dont damage the line!

thanx abonano, will definitely try your method and let you know, although, I’m afraid I may have damaged the push-tab ring. The pump I purchased came with a couple metal screw-clamp rings....wondering if I cut the line I can clamp it back on the the white hose nipple?

Without pics hard to tell but I'd advise against cutting the fuel line. Try the suggestion. It should work.

If you damaged the red push tabs I believe there are replacements out there or you may need to source them from a donor fuel pump assembly.

Thanx for your input! It actually kinda worked. I was able to get the hose out and complete the job with no leaks present. I did end up breaking the plastic quick connect (on the top only) and can now actually look for a suitable replacement! Thanks again for the advice!
