Default Gas cap

Can any S Type owners tell me if their gas cap is the kind that clicks when you tighten it, or if it just turns about a quarter turn and stops (what I have now)?

Thanks!

Did you have to order yours or did you find it at an auto parts store? I'm trying to find one that clicks and its looking like I'll have to order it.

Thanks!

Stogie-

I believe 2003 and 2005 do not use the same type of gas cap. That's why you see two different answers above.

Exact construction only matters in that it must provide a very good seal or you get Evap codes.

Mine doesn't click.

I've no idea but when mine failed emissions back in April I got a new one from Jaguar North Scottsdale for $33.38 (No codes by the way)

Just a 1/4 turn and stops.

The filler neck will be different for the 2 different caps. One will be threaded, the other will not.

Not so sure since mine came that way...maybe they changed it between the years.

Interesting information! Not long ago I read that the Voice button on the steering wheel, which I thought was probably inoperative, will mute the audio even if no phone is installed. Just perfect for my Garmin-powered hands-free cell-phone operation!
