Default gearbox problems

Hello to all.
The gearbox in my STR is hesitates to change to a lower speed. When i am going with less km than the speed gearbox has it's getting tense, then manualy i change to a lower speed in the gearbox and stops to tense.
Shall i check the oil quantity in the gearbox or is something else?
Thanks.

Not sure that the word 'tense' is expressing what you might be observing.

Hard to say for sure but yes do spend the time to not only check the fluid but with the age of the car I would for sure change the fluid and pan/filter at the same time.

Have you checked that the sealing sleeve on the transmission is not leaking? This is very common and the part is cheap BUT it can only be installed after dropping the pan. So it's a perfect time to change it when you do a fluid change and drop the pan.

Thanks for your answers
When i write <tense> i mean the car is trembling before it goes to lower gear (i hope this word this is the word). I allready change the oilpan and the oils last year.

Check LTFTs (long term fuel trims) at idle.

+1 also look for any OBDII codes. The engine idles correctly otherwise?

Try canceling SPort mode and see if that relieves the tension.

Since you have done a service on the gear box I think it would be worth it to have the shop check the fluid level.

We have seen again and again problems because it is not a easy procedure and is a pain to do right. It could be something as simple as low fluid.

Do you by chance know if the TCM software was updated when you did the service?

Have you read this about the ZF transmission?
Maybe too much info but good to know.
