Goodbye Sophie
Hello.
It's happened about a month ago now, so I'm quite late with this post, but my S-Type 4.2 is gone. She's been amazing and an absolutely awesome first car. I will never ever forget her. I don't regret getting rid of that car though. It used a ton of fuel and the heater was stuck on, making longer journeys an absolute pain.
Though, going 200 kph down the German highway was an experience like no other. The growl of the V8, especially in the low revs. The insane power it put down on the road. The beautiful rear end I always looked back at after parking the car, the wood and leather steering wheel, just perfectly sized for a relaxing seating position. The heated wind shield that basically instatnly cleared it of any ice.
All in all, there's nothing I can really complain about. I bought the car for 1'350 Swiss Francs (1 Fr. is pretty close to 1€, just for comparison sake). Stupid cheap. I brought her back on the road, after having been sat for at least 2 years. And now, someone else is out there, enjoying the V8 and the comfortable suspension.
311'000 km/192'000 miles and she's still going.
I am proud of her. She's been a great car, a great companion over 7'000 kilometres and roughly half a year.
I will never forget her.
It's been a great drive, Sophie.
Goodbye
P.S. My dad's XJ Super V8 (x350) is back on the road now, after 7 years. So even though I moved on to a Volvo, he moved from a Volvo to his beloved Jaguar. So there's still a beautiful luxury car around
