Default Handbrake and DSC

Hi guys I realise you've probably covered this a thousand times. But here we go. Bought a 04 S type 2.5se. Came with parking brake fault and DSC unavailable lights on. I plugged it in. No codes I tried an erase codes anyway. No joy. The battery had been flat at the car pitch and was old so I did what everyone says and I put a brand new 019 heavy duty battery on. Having left the other off 3 hours. Still no joy. Plugged it in again still nothing coming up. Still the same two lights. Any ideas?
thanks for looking

Read the codes that are in the module - needs an OE-type tool.

Apparently either it doesn't or you're using it wrongly.

Well I've don't diagnostics for 9 years now so I'm guessing it doesn't haha. Maybe time to ask my mate to borrow his tablet and Delphi system.

Try using it on automatic diagnose to allow it to look at all modules and not just the specific module. I found that this works with my icarsoft i930.

Also when the battery was changed you did a hard reset so there may be no codes to read.

Default Charge your battery first

The conventional wisdom on this forum is to always fully charge the battery, even if it's brand new, before proceeding with any engine diagnostics.

My own experience has been that every new battery I've ever bought came undercharged and required an overnight trickle charge to bring it up to full capacity.

A full capacity battery is essential before proceeding with further diagnostics. So charge your battery fully, then clear the codes, drive the car, and see if any codes come back. This is the only way you can tell for sure which codes are real and which are false positives caused by an undercharged battery.
Good luck!
