Default Happy New Year to the idiots out there

Just want to say Happy New Year to the person who decided to side swipe my lovely, freshly painted, STR on New Years while parked on the street. As well, thank you for not leaving a note, most likely because you were drunk and driving. On the plus side, since these cars are built like tanks, I would guess that there is probably no front end left on your car, so at least I could return the favor. Your welcome!

Venting over. To the rest of you all, a non-sarcastic Happy New Year and a thank you in advance for any help you may provide (hopefully not needed though!).

Let me add casualty #2 to the New Years Eve list as my '04 Honda Element was most likely totaled by a drunk driver on New Years Eve. Luckily I was not in the Jaguar, and luckily I was not more seriously hurt, but I'm very upset over losing out on this car for reasons I won't get into. It was very sentimental to me.

Head on collision at about 35MPH full airbag deployment. Scary

WinterJag and Chris, you guys are physically ok, the cars can be repaired and/or replaced. Happy New Years to ya both and look at it as the years worst is past.

Guys - you have my heart-felt sympathy. I shudder to think of it happening to my car.

The lesson? If you can stay off the road at such times.

I had a car totaled that way years ago while I was having a party upstairs in my apartment. The guy was drunk and plowed into my brand new 76 Honda Accord with his Kharman Ghia. He then backed up and hit again in the same spot. He repeated this for a total of 3 hits before folks on the street pulled him out of the car.

The next morning I looked out the window in horror at my Honda Accordian and ran down to see a curt note from the police. "Your car has been involved in an automobile accident" No sh*t, where's the rest of it? Totaled ...

A couple days later I found it was an unisured UC Berkeley student named Ronald Crook.

Be safe out there this year guys.

That`s why I drive a Honda during the winter. Don`t care if it gets killed.

Sorry to hear about the accidents, guys, but glad to hear that no one was injured....

I'll move my vehicles to the street in front of the house during the daylight hours if needed, but never after dark. As previously stated, too many idiots and drunks out there on the roads....

Sorry to both of you. It's not right and it's not fair.

Thanks for all the condolences! It is just a car, and that is why we have insurance so it'll be fine. I just wish people had more respect for others property. Now I'm out $200 for my deductable even though I was at home when it happened. But, no one was hurt (at least not anyone I care about, who knows about whoever hit my car) and the car can be fixed. A new door, quarter panel, tire, plastic parts and some paint and it'll be good as new! I just don't get people sometimes. If they had left me a note, it would have been fine. I don't bet upset if someone admits to a mistake. When will people learn!
