Headlamp repair problems
Any member repaired the pivots on the self levelling headlights the type with HID/xenon.
After replacing brackets on both sides the self levelling no longer works.
Before replacing the brackets I had the brutal fix, but car would not pass MOT (state inspection)
The repair went smooth (I used a heat gun)
before the repair the self levelling switched on went through a up and down sweep now the beams do not move.
It seems like there is no power going to the stepper motors, anyone carried out this repair and ended up with lights not self
levelling
adjusters work so the lens are not jammed, I check the 3 fuse boxes but don't know if there is a relay or self setting fuse? that might have failed? it seems unlikely that both motors failed at the same time.
If you have had your brackets changed and the lights did not level what was the solution?

Hi there,
it seems You should do headlight recalibration procedure at Jag dealer or someone who has IDS or SDD software + cable interface like Mongoose.
In my case, there was no autolevelling sweep when I've disconnected BOTH headlamps at once, and connected them again after repair job. After that, recalibration fixed the problem. But when I've discoonnected only one lamp, and connected it back, auto levelling sweep was still working on both lamps. It looks like like disconnecting both lamps makes autolevelling module to loose its settings. I'm not sure if disconnecting battery before disconnecting headlamps connectors prevents from loosing autoleveling data.

I'm sure battery disconnection must avoid this since replacing the battery doesn't lose the self-level. Once the battery is gone the module can't be clever as it doesn't itself have internal power.
I just bought a used 2000 s-type, the headlight have not worked for some time, the owner said its complicated said her mechanic..........so does a 2000 have a self leveling feature too? Must they level out before they'll come on?
Please help.
Please help.
