Default Headlight fix won`t work for S-Type

After watching the videos and going through all the threads created for
this fix I find that both sides of my headlights are shot. Adjusters are
broken inside on both sides. Even with the screw in place it still flops all
over the place since there is nothing but my screw holding it.

Been looking at some aftermarket non-auto leveling headlamp assemblies.
What you think about them. I priced jag replacement prices and the car is
not worth investing that much in to after only paying $8500 for it. I can
deal with the lower prices.

Anyone have experience replacing with them ?

Regards,
Jim

You do know that you can get the other parts and fix your current lights?

You will need to open the light by baking it in an oven so you can remove the lens. There are some very nice aftermarket metal ball and sockets that give a repair better than stock.

Thanks, but that is more work then I am prepared for. Have only had it for
3 days. Maybe in time I will get more comfortable taking on a job like
taking headlight assembly apart.

Parts Geek is good. I've used them and they delivered on time. That price they have is about as good as you'll find for new. I am like you. No fixin' headlights. Replace them and don't eat out for 2 months.

Just be prepared as the replacements still have those cheap plastic adjuster parts. The metal adjusters are like a 20 minute job to replace and 8 of those minutes is heating up the assembly in the oven to open up..

Just for info, jkallinen, Brutal used to (maybe still does) offer a complete headlamp overhaul service, including replacement of adjusters and cleaning & polishing of lenses and reflectors. Can't find the post where I first saw it, but I believe the price was $125 per headlamp, plus cost of replacement adjusters and you pay shipping.

I often wish Brutal worked in BC or Washington.

Thanks Robin, have gone through hundreds of Brutals posts and yes, he
did offer to rebuild them years back. Have not found any recent posts
that he still does, Yet shipping and so for me in the sticks could get to
even the cost of buying new.
