Anyone got any idea? Control valve possibly?

Most likely the DCCV went south. Also likely, it took the CCM with it. That's what happened to my S-Type a few years ago. Luckily it was in the dead of winter and still under warranty when it happened.

How common is it for it to wreck the CCM? I replaced the DCCV in our old S-Type without incident and everything worked as intended.

Up to VIN M45254 - never heard of it
After that - very common

Design changed.

Thanks folks. Mine is below the VIN reference so most probably the DCCV. I may look to get an XJ8 instead. Then again.
