Unhappy Heavy coolant leak

I have a costant drip of coolant coming down the the engine bay from the passenger side. Is that where the hose under the supercharger leaks out? Any help?

Due to the downward tilt of the rear of motor, the under s/c coolant hose leak sends coolant toward the rear of the engine. Check thermostat housing and water pump, etc.. Unbolt and move the coolant reservoir to the side and check around with a small LED flashlight.

Whether supercharged or not, S-types have notorious cooling system problems imo.

I have had to spend $1500 on cooling system repairs. Since mine is a daily driver and my mechanical abilities, while not bad, are limited by the fact that my S is the only vehicle I drive, I have had to go to the shop.

The best cost for an upper hose is about $200 and the lower is about $120. Add coolant and you are talking a minimum of $340 if you do it yourself.

My upper cooling hose started to swell up after only 6 months. I decided to replace it with the lower hose.

Oh well.

If you mean the new one did that I'd be wondering why - I don't recall anyone else saying that.

In the for what's worth column, my 05 S-type 4.2 NA has a coolant leak on the passenger side where the heater hose that runs out of the DCCV connects to the metal pipes that run down the passenger side of the engine compartment to the heater core. The leak is at the connector on the end of the hose that goes from rubber to metal. Those connectors are metal pressure fittings that appear to be crimped onto the rubber hose. When changing the DCCV some take the hose loose at this connection, then remove the DCCV, rather than trying to get the hose off the DCCV while it is still on the car.

On last observation, if your leak is greater when you use the heater, that is a sure sign of the problem I am mentioning. With the heater off, I guess the DCCV is closed and the without fluid running through the hose that has a leaky connection, I get almost no leakage.

Good luck. Take care....I'm still no good at knowing when to say Cheers.

Sorry to hear about your leak... I just got nailed with the leak under the supercharger. I couldn't tell where the coolant was coming from, but I had a big puddle under the car the next time I got in.

Like everyone else, the Jaguar Select warranty wouldn't cover it. I managed to get $400 taken off the dealers fees to repair it, but I'm still out $1,500.

I've read about this happening to so many people, Jaguar really needs to step-up and do more to assist in the repair. IMO

Although I dont have a S/C, I still had the common leak. On my 4.2, it was under the manifold.

Put me out a good $400.00 about 4 months ago

Just look at how many hoses it has. You have a 2005 STR same as me. These cars use the 3 hose version. Amazon or Rock Auto will be cheapest. Yes use the Lincoln LS part. Be aware that the years don't match up between the LS and the S Type so look at the picture of the DCCV to get the right one. There are only two styles. 5 hose and 3 hose.
