I assume you are referring to the Recall/Service Action S303-S145 for the faulty coolant level sender delete.
I performed several dozen 'disable the coolant level sensor' ECM configurations when I worked at the dealer.

Here is the info you need if this is your issue.

Are you talking about the little check engine light on the dash? If that is illuminated, some corresponding fault codes will be stored.

Please have the codes read with a scanner or code reader, and post them here. Please post the 5 digit code(s) such as P0301, not the definition the reader may display. Some codes are Jaguar-specific and the generic definitions are are not always accurate.

I am surprised three different mechanics are giving you three wildly different ideas. Sounds like none of them even bothered reading the codes, or are ignoring them and suggesting unneeded expensive repairs.

Your picture is hard to read, but does that say P1388? If so, that’s a fairly common fault, often with P1383 for the other bank. No need to panic, it often clears up with a fresh oil change.

I replaced this tank THREE times the first 3 months I had my s-type. Two of the replacements cracked. Just bad luck but I never had any warning lights. That reservoir is a bear to change.

Aftermarket tanks...? Uro brand, perhaps?

Why don't you disconnect the battery, touch the + and minus - together, then wait about 30 minutes and hook up the pos. first and neg second and the computer will reset. Be sure you have your remote in hand. When you open the door to put the key in, the HORN will go off. Use your remote to shut it off. Start it up and it should reset.

The good one came from Brand Parts in California. The other 2 were covered under warranty.
