My hubby is working on a 2000 jaguar s type 3.0 he swapped out the engine for one of the same and the new engine is making a weird clanking noise and has really no power but it runs...any suggestions? Also does any cheaper engine fit in it

Its the engine that's making the knocking noise. We got it at junkyard and it came with no warranty so now we are thinking its defective any suggestions

 

There's a hundred things that can cause an engine to knock, virtually none of which are exclusive to Jags. I think you might be looking at removing and returning the junkyard engine.

 

Is it a loud scary knocking noise or just an annoying knock, does it come from the top, bottom, front or back of the engine?

 

There isnt anything cheaper than a jag 3.0 engine, used they are less than $500 but Id recommend paying an extra $500 and getting a nice low mileage one (< 75000), these are pretty bulletproof engines so once you have a good one and 99.99% of them are good, you should be fine if you take care of it,.
