Bet you are thinking this is an easy one to answer as its the rev limiter and its happening in park! Well ,wrong! I have just finished putting a new engine in my 2000 S type and everything,amazingly is fine apart from whilst driving it will not go above 3000RPM,i wondered wether it could still be running in safe mode and the ECU needs resetting as the engine management light obviously came on prior to the engine change although its not on now or whether the problem lies elsewhere,any help,advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated.
On a different note, i am by no means a mechanic and took this job on as a project for myself,after the massive job of changing the engine and auto box by myself i really struggled changing the wiper blades this morning!! The mind boggles!!!!!!!!!!!!

To add - I have a 2000 S Type 4.0 and I drive throughout the RPM range and I do not get above 3,000 RPM - I'm sure if I slammed the gas pedal down I would get past the 3,000 RPM mark.

I'm guessing you have a V6 engine....

Did you hook up a OBD II reader? any codes?

 

Yes it's the v6 3.0 litre fitted in a 2000 s type. Unfortunately I do not have a reader.
