Default Help! S-Type tune-up gone bad!

2001 S-type 3.0. Just completed tune-up after of course breaking the "T" hose fitting (lucky and found one at a local junk yard), and now coolant is dumping into the cylinders. I am sure I put the upper intake and everything else back together. Just not sure why and how coolant would be pouring into the engine. Could I have crossed hoses somewhere? I can not find any pictures or schematics online anywhere. I just hope somebody can help, or offer advice

Pretty vague discription.

Go to www.alldatadiy.com and drop $25.00 for a years subscription and retrace your steps through them. You'll be glad you did......

Your welcome in advance!

Shaw, based on the work you did, odds are you have a problem around your throttlebody. I would venture to guess you have an o-ring issue there. Now, this is based off of my X-TYpe which has the same motor as your S-Type. So, it should be the same. Specifically you want to look at the o-ring between the throttlebody and the intake and also inside of the throttlebody.

If you crossed lines, then about the only person that can help you is yourself. That leads to so many possibilities I wouldnt even know where to start with that one.

On the other hand, welcome to the forums. We do ask that you make your first post in the "New Member" forum. This helps us get an idea of who you are and I think you will find it worth your while too. So, sit back, grab a cup of Joe and hopefully you will be able to get the information that you are after.

Thanks for the reply. I will check the o-rings, and I don't know how I could have crossed any hoses. Since they are all pre-molded it seemed easy to put back together. Coolant however, had to have been pouring in, as it would start smoking immediately. I did not replace the upper intake/plenum after the new plugs. Not sure if that would cause a problem either.

Yes you swapped the throttle coolant hose with an intake air hose. I have seen this done and the engine will suck coolant.

i was about to say the same thing, im guessing it could have been one of the small hoses that connect by the throttle body, thats where i would check first
