Hello I have a 2003 Jaguar S-Type and my tilt and telescopic had been working just fine until today. I woke up this morning finding this problem out. The tilt is stuck in the up position. I tried exercising both for awhile with no movement. It does make a sound or click like it is trying to turn the cable but isn't working. Does anyone have a clear idea on what it could be or offer a detailed fix. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

 

May seem odd, but check your battery. Make sure it's up and the cells are all reading ok. How old is the battery ??
More than 3 years, might want to replace it "just in case". Trust me, I know...

 

Battery is fairly new. I don't think this is the cause of the problem but I will check to make sure. Thanks for the reply.

 

You should get the modules scanned to see if there are any DTCs to lead you in the right direction for diagnosis. If you do end up replacing the column you should reconfigure the INSTPK with the correct sequence on the column barcode. I have attached two .pdf to understand what I am talking about.

It could be something crazy like a corrupt VID block but it probably is just a component fault.

Where should I get this scanned at? I do not want to spend a fortune at the car ***********. Still all it does is make a click like it tries to work the telescopic and tilt but both are not moving. Do you think I need a new motor? Do I need to replace the whole column? Is this what I would need to buy to replace to column? Thanks Bob!
