My 2000 4.0 stype went into safe mode the other day and it gave me the p1586 or tps signal failure code so I replaced it and it still wont start. Any suggestions? I really need to figure this out I have a buyer for the car comming friday and I was planning on adding some cash with the money from the sale to buy a stype R!

 

Get free codes PDF and/or JTIS (also has it) and you'll see it's not a TPS fault. Better to go for the actual item...

 

I have Jtis thats how I found out what code it was giving. It wouldn't hurt to give it another look though. The code I posted may be wrong but it was a throttle position sensor code.

 

We're not going to be able to give much advice without the right code.
