Unhappy And here I am with yet another problem

Ok folks, the check engine light I mention in another thread is intermittent and goes on and off on its own. When off there are no codes to read.

Saying that to say, my newest issue is a weird cruising thing. The car feels as if it is driving against a head wind. Its not a surge because RPM's do not fluctuate. It feels like the car hits a head wind and then resumes normal cruise. The car does it as low as 35mph and when I am cruising at highway speeds both with cruise control on and by foot.

It does it when the check engine light is on and off. Would this be associated with the transmission TSB I am going to have done? I ask that because the tranny is doing that "woosh" noise on acceleration.

As I just posted in your 2nd thread on this: That's false. The codes are kept for 40 warm-up cycles unless erased. If yours are gone but you did nothing to erase them then that points to a different fault - something wrong with the power to the PCM almost certainly.

Please stick to just ONE thread about ONE problem.

TBH you seem to have the car with the most problems of any on here

Its true that Jaguar literature states that codes should be stored in the memory but why doesn't he see any codes?

The check engine does flash if your car misfires, but if it only misfires a couple of times it flashes but doesn't store a code sometimes (I've seen it happen)

Or, maybe is a more complicated advance code that doesn't show on a regular OBDII scan tool.

I have a hunch that your problem is the throttle body though, the light you mention does come on with a restricted performance, but it may be intermittent to the point where for one second you hit a spot on the track of the TPMS and the light comes on for a sec and then it goes away.

Just a guess though don't go crazy and change the Throotle body... But if you can't figure out and truly love ur cat then its time to take it to a pro.

At the very least there will always be P1000 or P1111. If neither, then bad OBD tool. A rapidly flashing MIL is misfires but that isn't how he describes it. Even then there will be P1000 or P1111. Even the elm327 will report other codes, even OE ones. About $10. Can't see any point in not using one.

If there really isn't even P1000 or P1111 and the OBD tool is OK then the PCM needs a reflash or replacement.

Why don't you just stop responding to my threads you seem to have a chip on your shoulder. Don't tell me what is false when I hook my scanner up and it does not show any codes!!

This thread is regarding a different problem. READ THE WHOLE THING BEFORE TRYING TO MAKE YOURSELF FEEL LIKE A BIG MAN BY FINDING FAULT OR ACCUSING OTHERS!!!

Get a new scanner/software -one that works. You can't diagnose things with broken tools.

The scanner works!! When I first got it it read the codes BUT the check engine light was on. Today the check engine light was on this morning I hooked the scanner up and once again I had codes.

If it's not showing P1000 or P1111 then it doesn't work or you have the only PCM that drives your car but works contrary to every other one. Think about that. It's your scanner or its software that at best only part works.

+1. Not all scanners read all codes.
