Hid headlight
I have a low beam headlight that had been flickering on and off for about 3 weeks. It finally quit yesterday. I put in a new bulb and still not working. I checked fuses and wiring they are ok. I even swapped the bulbs and the light still not on. I am leaning towards replacing both the igniter and ballast. I am not positive that I have the names right but the piece that locks the bulb in has a broken tang anyway. Am I on the right track and are parts right or left specific. I know some will say why did I not swap the electronics. Well simply put it is 105 degrees here and my thinking cap was scorched and I did not think about it until after I had the bumper cover reinstalled
I had a similar problem a few years ago and the ballast was bad. I don't think the ignitor or ballast is side specific, I remember swapping left and right to test. I bought a used oem hella ballast on eBay because I read aftermarket ones aren't good. Apparently several brands of cars use the same part, I think mine was from a Mercedes, has worked great since.
Thanks. I will change both because the igniter has a broken tang. On a side note I have the 6000k upgraded bulbs and wow what a difference. Driving at night is fun again. If anyone has a problem with your adjusters being broke there is a nice fix where you use a screw. It is on YouTube. Worked great for me. I think it is searched by " jaguar droopy headlights"
