Hoping for the impossible
If someone is really keen on doing a manual conversion on an STR, I believe we are now in the position to solve the electronic issues re the TCM.
Do not expect this to be a cheap exercise by any stretch of the imagination, but i'm confident it can now be done.
ZF S6-53 six-speed manual from the S-Type 2.7 diesel (Euro spec, bellhousing is same as AJ-V8)
Pedal box, master & slave, shifter from same diesel donor vehicle
Custom flywheel needed since the crank flange is different, and probably want to go for a custom clutch, not sure how much abuse the stock diesel clutch will take
Programming of the car to make it think it's a manual ==> the trick, I think we are ready
Some wiring changes needed for clutch pedal switch, reverse lockout, etc.
I have been thinking long & hard about doing this to my XJR, just have difficulty finding spare money at the moment...
