Engine ok ?

Sorry but unable to make out the noise but did you check for codes? Did you turn the car off or did it shut down on its own?

And I suppose - what noise does it make in the engine bay with bonnet (hood) up?

Also, make sure where any odd sound is coming from as quite often the actual source is not where first suspected.

You can easerly remove the s/c belt and spin the s/c back and forth to see how it feels !
Sure hope it is the s/c and not the engine . good luck .

will do another vid in the morning so you can get a better idea

The car starts first time, no mil warning lights, oil pressure ok, just sounds like someone is throwing rocks around in the supercharger the size of house bricks

Rather than making videos, perform the procedure mentioned in the post above by Datsports to determine if there is an issue with the supercharger or elsewhere.

With the supercharger belt removed, you can listen to other components such as the water pump to determine the location of the noise.

checked the oil and it took a whole 5ltr of oil, not a good sign. removed the supercharger belt and knocking still there so looks like no oil has caused a part siezure

I dont know why the oil pressure light worked as normal with no oil ???

Hi,
Sounds really bad. Could be oil cooler line massive leak and you drove it with little oil pressure with no warning light to show it. Replaced my lines cause little dripping to avoid totall failure.

Really hope your engine is not destroyed.

Most likely damage to main and rod bearings and possibly gudgeon, or wrist pin(s).

Next step would be to remove the sump and inspect for metal particles, then check main and rod bearing condition.

It would be interesting to know if the lack of oil was the cause of the engine problem or the result.

Hi, I wonder why there was no warning light due to low oil amount/pressure ? Think such a huge lack of oil should trigger warning ?

Eventually. Engine's toast before then on many cars.

The dipstick isn't really an optional item. Even then you can be unlucky.

Start shopping for a replacement engine, a rebuild of that motor would be mega-bucks (or pounds, if you will).

But seriously, I think, unfortunately, your car is toast. If you love STRs look for a later model and hope you can recover some of the cost by parting out your current car.

Sorry...

I must admit I haven't had it checked since about 6 months ago. Since then it has been pulley upgraded, remapped and terracleaned so God knows when it was actually too low

Regardless of the vehicle, you need to check your oil level at least every weekend. If you do not, you will never catch the unexpected leak that eventually destroys your engine....
