Jag parts
Hi scrannel,
If you know the Original Equipment Manufacturer who made the part for Jaguar, you can often find the same part by the same OEM at Rock Auto, Parts Geek, FCP Euro, etc. See the list of Jaguar OEMs at the link in my signature.
Often, the manufacturer's name is marked on the part. For example, if you have a V8, all the engine sensors, ignition coils, fuel injectors, etc. were made by Denso. Your spark plugs were made by NGK. Your suspension control arms were made by Lemforder. Your oil filter was made by Mann or Mahle. Your brake components were probably made by Ate or TRW. Cooling system components were probably made by Behr. Your drive belt tensioner was made by Litens. If you have the V6, many parts were made by Ford OEMs and are often marked FoMoCo. Most other OEMs can be identified with a little research.
Very few parts in your car were actually manufactured by Jaguar. Purchasing OEM parts instead of the same or equivalent parts sold as "Genuine Jaguar" can save you a lot of money, and with Jaguars, there is always something else to spend money on.
Cheers,
Don

Excellent advice there. Just a hunch, but I believe the official parts supply via Jaguar is starting to dry up. Few dealerships are going to stock more than some very basic parts for a vehicle 20+ years old.
I like to research Jaguar part numbers here:
https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic...-s-type-parts/
With a Jaguar part number, a basic search often turns up many vendors. When a dealership begins clearing old parts from their shelves, they often sell wholesale lots to third party resellers. Many list their wares on eBay or similar platforms. I prefer making a purchase through eBay versus some unknown seller’s website. Lot better buyer protection via eBay and similar places.
One minor caution if searching by Jaguar part number. Some sneaky sellers list aftermarket parts as equivalent to an OEM part number. They don’t make it clear it’s actually aftermarket. Make sure the listing is for Jaguar or an OEM supplier such as Bosch, Denso, etc.

Karl I also use the Jaguar Land Rover Classic. I thought they purchased old stock from JLR when they stop carrying those parts?
I don't think their owned by JLR but there seems to be some kind of connection.
You can find all the current parts on there but you can't order them because JLR still handles them. But when they stop being available from JLR then I see them on the classic web site.
