Default Jaguar S beeping when moving

Trying to help friend with a 2006 Jaguar S. The problem is the car starts beeping when you reach approx 5 mph. It will do it in drive and reverse.

I have seat belt fastened so that should not be the problem.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

does the beeping come from the rear parcel tray ?
does it sound like the parking beeper ?
if so that would lead to a potential reverse parking sensor/ECM issue .
check the boot pan for water .

The beeping comes from the front. I have turned the parking sensors off. No water in the boot.

A faulty parking brake will cause this beeping, but there should be a warning light/message also.

There is a faulty parking brake warning. He said something about this was disconnected and he was not getting the beeping until he changed the battery. I was thinking it was the pb also but according to him it is not.

He said someone else disconnected it, I don't know enough about the car to see if it is disconnected or not?

It needs to be fixed one way or the other. The warning means that it's not functioning properly. If you can't DIY, find a trusted indy mechanic or a dealer.

BTW- when asking for assistance, it helps to provide all the info up front.

To me this is kind of a mystery. I suggested to him that it was the parking brake and he said it had not worked in a while that he did not want to get it repaired due to cost. He stated that the car had just started making the noise when he had a new battery put in. He is an older gentleman and I was trying to help him.

I can do basic repairs but don't know anything about the EPB.

Do a search on this site, there's probably 2-3 discussions on every possible fault.

Install JTIS (factory mtce. manual) from stickies at the top.

Just had the same issue with my 2005 ... Anytime the car was in drive it would beep.. Took it to jaguar and they ended up replacing the electric parking break switch in the center console... Never in a million years would I have guessed it was the parking break pull button.
