I went for the diagnostic check at a gearbox specialist and all they could find is a code saying that the warning light had come on. There does not appear to be any problem. They suspect that the system is oversensitive.

The code was P1794, which they said means battery voltage signal system, which tallys with what i can find elsewhere. I have to admit I dont know what that means. The garage translated it as the warning light had come on.

P1794 is listed in jtis with details and I really do recommend you read them from it as you may wish to do the troubleshooting it points to. (I would.) The description you have so far is (being charitable) very incomplete and rather misleading.
