Hey guys i have a 2001 Jaguar S-Type V6 3.0. i took out the dash and fixed the evaporator then i placed everything back together. when i connected my battery not only was it dead but when i jumped it the car it would not start. It gave me a LOW fuel level (which is not true) and than the alarm system seems to be going off when i try to turn it on. all the car does is crank and doesnt start (then the alarm goes off). please help out thank you in advance.
oh the car also gave me a Fuel Computer Data Error.

Chances are a cable came loose / got cut or the like. If it shorted out the battery you're lucky it didn't cause a fire!

If I had to guess, I'd say a cable going to the dash (cluster). Dealer-type OBD tool (such as AutoEnginuity) can talk to all the modules and report any that aren't found, which would really help figure this out. However, sounds like you may now have car in anti-theft and I think real jag tool may be needed to get it out. Worth figuring out the cable/connector issue and checking before calling dealer.

Thanks for the quick reply I guess I'll try and check cables and connect my OB reader. Question once it's in anti theft mode what can I do to get it off?

Dealer tool.

An ordinary OBD tool is next to useless to diagnose the networks as it will only talk to one out of 10-20 modules.

Figure out fault and pray it's not in anti-theft.

What red light?

Check everything else on the car to see what might not be working correctly. That may help narrowing down what went wrong. I'd guess you missed reconnecting a harness or something while doing the evap repair. Pay particular attention to the area around the steering column and going down into the console.

Good luck!

Just check the PATS code and got a 16 which in turn is a code for. U2511/U1900 Instrument Cluster to engine control module (ECM) Controller Area Network (CAN)
communication error. does this mean that i must have must some connection or ground when replacing the Dash back in ?

i hear you jagv8 i have been slowing taking off the dash again looking connector after connector like you said. just want to know if some one can elaborate more on "U2511/U1900 Instrument Cluster to engine control module (ECM) Controller Area Network (CAN)
communication error" or if some one has had this problem how they fixed it IF it wasnt a missed connection.

well i did a check on all the connectors and everything seems to be good. everything is connected and all grounds seem to be in place. any other idea on what the problem may be? could the ECM have gotten wet and thats the issue? it rained 2 days and my windows were down. but i covered it with towels the first day (last sec thing miami weather is fast and crazy) and the second time i placed plastic bags and some water got in but not to much. i just put everything back together and am waiting to connect the batt. again to see if there was any changes. i will update. please if anyone has any other ideas please let me know.

thank you in advance
PS if i get a new ECM from a junked jag would i be able to connect it and it be compatible?

Ouch! Yes, It could have gotten wet. Always helps to have the rest of the story.......

You can use a PCM from a junk car as long as....

1. the car is identically equipped.
2. the number on the PCM is the same as or a successor to yours.
3. it is NOT programmed as a new module [that makes it junk, too]
4. it has the "Immobilization Setup" application run on the Jaguar IDS/SDD tool. That allows engine starting.
5. you are not in an inspection state. Not programming as new so the VIN# is burned into the PCM will cause you to fail inspection.

Hope that helps!

Can I test it to see if it works or is there Any way of knowing if it properly works. And guess I may have to go to a junk yard and test my luck.
