Default Jaguar S-Type R suspension

My STR is at 95k miles, i recently had an oil change and my mechanic reminded me that Jaguar recommends the shocks be replaced at 50k miles. As far as I know that has never been done on my car. I have never had any suspension problems with my STR, suspension feels smooth and quiet. Should I still have it done as a precaution or is it something that can wait?

Thanks in advance.

At 95k I'd say they are either on their way, or already out. Usually 80k miles is the rule of thumb I use.

Personally I wouldn't replace them unless they are leaking, especially if they are CATS. Just my 2 cents.

Ditto. If they work then let em stay. CATS cost $350/each.

McJaguar - Yes, the rideability is controlled automatically by the electronic shocks. I saw the pics of your 03 STR - yes, you have them...

Computer Active Technology Suspension - Yes, it's a good thing to have - great ride and feel...(as long as the shocks don't give out as replacement shocks are $350+ each)

best supplier of the CATS shocks? I assume they must be available from the aftermarket?

Do check them for oil leakage. Especially the fronts. Almost all of them over time will start to get a bit oily/grimy and that's OK. You just don't want any drips. The CATS gives us a nice soft ride at low speed with much better control when things get fast.

I also really like the seat belt pre-tensioners. For auto crossing or aggressive cornering they hold you in place very good!! It was a bit weird the first time I felt it and had to do some reading to find out what it was. Never had a car that did that before!

Jagbits, Coventry West, etc. will sell the CATS for less than Jaguar.
