Well, as quickly as the noise came, it disappeared. The FIRST day it was above freezing outside it was gone, I don't know if that had any significance whatsoever. Regardless, it's gone, and hopefully for good. So unfortunately I dont have a "fix" or proper diagnosis for anyone. All i can say is that I had a knocking sound for weeks, now it's gone, go figure.

Just as I thought all was well and the universe was in balance again, my ollllllddddd friend "squeaky steering wheel" decided to show up. DAMMIT, looks like I am going to have to try that Jag additive after all. I thought that was gone as well....months ago....but decided to pay me a visit yet again. Anyone have any new info on the infamous squeaky steering column?

If your car hasn't had the additive it's so cheap and easy to DIY - just do it. The squeak could be a bush but that's rare.

I think that about 95% of the time the additive seems to solve the problem. It surely did for our car in March 2010. Just do it....

The dealer added the special additive about 30K miles ago on my 2005 STR. Been dead silent ever since.

Just called, a whopping $10...Just pour that in or do I have to flush the existing fluid out?

I just poured it in. The bottle is only like 2 or 3 oz or so.

Hope it works for you,

Mike

I used an old plastic veterinarian hypodermic syringe that I keep on hand to suck out an equivalent amount of power steering fluid. Wanted to keep the level right at full, not exceed it even though there's plenty of room in the canister....
