Lambda Oxygen Sensors
Hi All
I'm a newbie to the forum (and to Jaguar) but hope that someone can give me some advice.
My local garage has got a specialist in to advise on the occasional error with my S Type. Intermittently the EML comes on along with the "Restricted Performance" message in the display. It seems to occur if I go for fast acceleration when the engine is cold or if I am fully laden (4 adults plus luggage) and need to accelerate fairly hard. After a few miles the Restricted Performance display disappears and after say 50 - 60, miles the ELM goes off as well. It is actually manageable as it is (mostly annoying) apart from a journey recently. The other day on the motorway I had a need to accelerate quickly whilst changing lanes and, with the restricted performance display on, the car refused to provide the performance I was expecting - very embarrassing and potentially dangerous so I need to get it fixed. My question is, do these symptoms confirm the garage's diagnosis or could it be anything else? The Jaguar replacements aren't cheap and I don't want to spend the money only to find it is something else.
I have some other minor niggles with the car which I'll post separately to avoid confusion.

Hi NBCat
Hopefully you saw my second post but a the risk of overkill it's a 2004 S Type V8 4.2 Sport with about 67,000 miles on the clock.
Also I hope I have sorted my signature now

Begin by downloading a copy of the JTIS manual to your computer; it is available at no cost in the 'sticky' section of this forum.
Connect a code reading device to the OBD connector under the fascia, I'm assuming it is near the LH side of the steering wheel on a RHD vehicle if you are in the UK.
Codes are in a format of alpha numeric characters such as P0000. Once you have obtained the codes, post them here.
